Erik Read excelled at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, while Canadian athletes dominated the U.S. Revolution Tour slopestyle events.

Canadian alpine skier Erik Read delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach, Austria. Despite starting the second run of the men’s giant slalom with a significant deficit, Read executed a clean run, finishing with a combined time of 2:42.07. This result marked his best placement in a World Championship giant slalom event, securing him 22nd place overall.

In addition to Read`s achievements, the U.S. Revolution Tour concluded at Buttermilk Ski Area, showcasing the talents of Canadian athletes. Alexander Henderson, at just 21 years old, clinched his first FIS victory in slopestyle, finishing ahead of Utah`s Henry Townshend and Park City`s James Kanzler.

On the women`s side, Brynn Johnston emerged victorious in slopestyle, marking her first win under the FIS banner since her big air gold at the junior world championships in 2022. Australia’s Indra Brown took second place, while Canada’s Naomi Urness rounded out the podium in third.

These performances highlight the growing strength of Canadian athletes in alpine skiing and freestyle events, setting the stage for future competitions.
