Canadian Skiers Gear Up for Schladming Night Slalom

Canadian skiers Erik Read and Simon Fournier compete in the Schladming Night Slalom, showcasing their skills and determination.

Canadian athletes are making their mark in the competitive world of Alpine skiing, particularly at the Schladming Night Slalom. Erik Read and Simon Fournier are representing Canada in the men`s slalom standings, both training with the World Racing Academy. Read, a veteran of the sport, has impressively scored slalom points for 11 consecutive World Cup seasons, with a notable 21st-place finish in Kitzbühel showcasing his enduring talent. Fournier, eager to achieve a standout result, brings a fierce determination to each race. They are joined by Declan McCormack, who is set to make his World Cup debut in Schladming after recovering from an injury. This marks McCormack`s return to competition since participating in the Australia-New Zealand Cup slaloms last August.

In the women`s category, Laurence St-Germain and Amelia Smart are representing Alpine Canada Alpin. St-Germain recently finished 11th at the Flachau night slalom, while Smart celebrated her best result of the season with a 17th-place finish. Ali Nullmeyer, currently ranked 40th, is also on the comeback trail after dealing with back pain that has kept her off the slopes since December 1. These athletes are looking to build momentum as they prepare for the upcoming Courchevel Night Slalom and the World Championships in Saalbach.
