Grob and Roesle Triumph at Junior World Alpine Championships

Stefanie Grob and Felix Roesle won the downhill events at the Junior World Alpine Championships in Tarvisio, Italy.

The 44th Junior World Alpine Ski Championships kicked off in Tarvisio, Italy, featuring a thrilling two-run downhill event. Adjustments to the starting point due to heavy snow created a sprint-like course, challenging over 350 young skiers from 60 nations. In the women`s downhill, Switzerland`s Stefanie Grob clinched victory with a remarkable finish, edging out teammate Jasmine Mathis by just one hundredth of a second. France`s Garance Meyer secured third place, showcasing the competitive spirit of the event.

On the men`s side, Germany`s Felix Roesle emerged as the champion, with Philipp Kaelin from Switzerland finishing a close second, just two hundredths of a second behind. Austrian Matthias Fernsebner completed the podium, highlighting the fierce competition among the young athletes. North American skiers also made their mark, with Allison Mollin and Hunter Salani leading the charge, finishing 6th and 8th, respectively. Other notable finishes included Zoe Gray (10th) and Mattias Wilson (10th).

The competition continues with the women`s super-G and Team Combined events on February 28th, while the men`s events will resume in March. In related news, Austrian skier Cornelia Huetter claimed victory in the World Cup downhill in Kvitfjell, Norway, reigniting the race for the discipline title.
