Mikaela Shiffrin Makes History with 100th World Cup Win

Mikaela Shiffrin`s 100th World Cup victory cements her legacy as the most successful alpine skier ever.

Mikaela Shiffrin achieved a historic milestone by securing her 100th World Cup victory in the women’s slalom event in Sestriere on February 26, 2025. The American skiing icon finished 0.61 seconds ahead of her competitors, marking her as the first alpine skier to reach the century mark in World Cup wins.

This remarkable achievement comes after a challenging start to the season, where Shiffrin faced a crash in Killington, Vermont, in November. Demonstrating resilience, she dominated the slalom discipline, consistently adding to her win tally. In Sestriere, Shiffrin executed two flawless runs, with a combined time of 1:44.35, leaving second-place finisher Petra Vlhova of Slovakia trailing behind. Sweden`s Anna Swenn Larsson completed the podium in third place.

At just 29 years old, Shiffrin has surpassed the legendary Ingemar Stenmark`s previous record of 86 World Cup victories. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed gratitude for her health and performance, stating, "To go from that crash in Killington to 100 wins now is just incredible." With this victory, Shiffrin extended her lead in the overall World Cup standings, aiming for a record-tying fifth overall crystal globe as the season progresses to Are, Sweden for upcoming races.
