Mikaela Shiffrin Makes History with 100th World Cup Win

Mikaela Shiffrin`s 100th World Cup victory marks a historic achievement in skiing, showcasing her resilience and skill.

Mikaela Shiffrin achieved a historic milestone by clinching her 100th World Cup victory in a slalom race held in Sestriere, Italy. The American ski sensation finished 0.61 seconds ahead of Croatia`s Zrinka Ljutic, with her teammate Paula Moltzan securing third place, just 0.64 seconds behind. This remarkable win comes after a challenging recovery period for Shiffrin, who had been sidelined due to injuries from a crash in November.

At 29 years old, Shiffrin not only extended her record for World Cup wins but also tied the legendary Ingemar Stenmark for the all-time record of 155 podium finishes. Her emotional victory was a testament to her resilience, as she expressed gratitude for the support during her recovery. Shiffrin led after the first run and maintained her dominance in the second run, showcasing her exceptional skills in the slalom discipline.

In conjunction with her achievement, Shiffrin launched the "MIK100: Reset the Sport" initiative, aiming to raise $100,000 to help 200 kids learn skiing and snowboarding. In the overall World Cup standings, Switzerland leads the Nations Cup, followed by Austria and Italy, while the United States, bolstered by Shiffrin`s performance, sits in fifth place. The Alpine Ski World Cup season continues with exciting events scheduled for March, including the prestigious World Cup Finals.
