Kebede and Warner-Judd Triumph at Ribble Valley 10K
The Ribble Valley 10K, which also served as the Northern Athletics 10K Road Championship, showcased elite athletic talent on December 29, 2024. The event attracted a competitive field under optimal conditions, featuring cloudy skies and a mild temperature of 8 degrees, with no wind to hinder performance.
In the men's race, Biruk Aduna Kebede from Clayton-Le Moors and Matthew Ramsden from Blackburn Harriers emerged as the top finishers, both clocking impressive times of 29:23. They broke away from the pack early, with James West and Jacob Cann initially leading the charge until the 3K mark. Richard Allen from Leeds City secured third place with a time of 29:30, followed closely by Brandon Quinton from Warrington, who finished in 29:37. Leeds City dominated the team standings, taking first place, followed by Border in second and Preston Harriers in third.
The women's race was equally thrilling, with Jessica Warner-Judd from Blackburn narrowly edging out Hannah Nuttall from Charnwood. Warner-Judd finished in 321, just one second ahead of Nuttall. Emily Haggard Kearney claimed third place with a time of 337, while Heather Townsend from Leeds City finished fourth in 34:22. Leeds City again showcased their strength in the team results, finishing first, followed by Border and Preston Harriers.
Overall, the Ribble Valley 10K highlighted the competitive spirit and athletic prowess present in the region, setting a high standard for future events.
