Pitt Panthers women`s lacrosse team secured a thrilling 12-10 victory against Penn State in an intense intrastate rivalry game at the Pitt Sports Dome on February 18, 2025. The Panthers showcased their dominance early, scoring 11 consecutive goals to establish an 11-1 lead in the first quarter. Freshman Paige Kawa netted her first career goal, while seniors Jenna Hendrickson and Sydney Naylor each recorded hat tricks. Sophomore Avery Moon contributed two goals, with Jill Fenech and Emily Coughlin adding one each.

Despite a strong second-half effort from the Nittany Lions, the Panthers` early scoring proved insurmountable. The Panther defense was formidable, causing 14 turnovers, and goalie Molly Cain made four crucial saves. Coughlin and Naylor also provided two assists each, while defender Natalie Voorhees collected six ground balls. Aidan Carr and Fenech combined for nine draw controls, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the lead. This victory marks a promising start for the Panthers as they prepare for their first ACC game against Virginia Tech.
