African Nations With Highest Number of Players In German Bundesliga

There are 25 African players who have already played in the Bundesliga this season with Nigeria,Mali and Morocco having the highest number (4) each.

 

The Bundesliga has a long history of showcasing some of the greatest talents in African football, but the abundance of footballing brilliance from the continent in Germany is stronger than ever before. 

 

The irrepressible centre-forward pair of Guinea's Serhou Guirassy and Nigeria's Victor Boniface may have smashed their name onto the scoresheet more than most but they are just a small portion of the wealth of African talent up and down the Bundesliga. The league currently counts a staggering 21 full African internationals among the squads of its 18 teams. 

 

The Bundesliga is one of the top national leagues, ranked fourth in Europe according to UEFA's league coefficient ranking for the current 2024–25 season, based on performances in European competitions over the past five seasons.

 

 

The Bundesliga is also  the number one association football league in the world in terms of average attendance; out of all sports, its average of 45,134 fans per game during the 2011–12 season was the second-highest of any sports league in the world after the American National Football League.

NIGERIA (4 )

Nigeria is ranked amongst the foreign nations with the highest number of players in the German Bundesliga.

 

Players like Victor Boniface who was one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season, Nathan Tella his Leverkusen teammate Kelvin Akpoguma who plays for Hoffenheim and Frank Onyeka who plays for Augsburg are the four Nigerian in the German Bundesliga.

 

MALI  (4)

Amadou Haidara Who plays for RB Leipzig , El Bilal Touré for VfB Stuttgart, Diadie Samassékou Hoffenheim  and Ibrahima Sissoko who plays for Bochum are the four Malian Players currently In the Bundesliga.

 

MOROCCO (4)

Morocco players in the Bundesliga are Carlo Boukhalfa who plays for St Pauli, Amine Adli who plays for Leverkusen, 

Others are Aymen Barkok who plays for Mainz 05 and Adam Aznou who is yet to play for Bayern Munich this season.

 

ALGERIA (3)

Mohamed Amoura has scored one goal and 4 assists for Wolfsburg in 4 appearances this season. 

Other Algeria players are Fares Chaïbi with six matches played so far for Eintracht Frankfurt and Ramy Bensebaini who has also played six matches this season for Dortmund 

 

GUINEA (3)

Guinea Serhou Guirassy is currently the most prolific African player in the Bundesliga scoring 3 goals in 4 appearances for Dortmund this season.

 

St Pauli Morgan Guilavogui and Bochum Aliou Badara Baldé are the other Guinea Players in the Bundesliga.

 

TUNISIA (2)

Tunisia currently has two active players in the Bundesliga. Elias Saad who plays for St Pauli and Ellyes Skhiri who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt are the two players.

 

DR CONGO (1)

Samuel Essende and Silas Katompa is the only Congolese player currently in the 2024/2025 Bundesliga season.

Omar Marmoush plays for Eintracht Frankfurt and has made six appearances so far in this year Bundesliga season.

 

BENIN (1)

Steve Mounié plays for Augsburg and has made 5 appearances this season.

 

GHANA (1)

Ghana Moritz-Broni Kwarteng has made three appearances this season for Bochum
