Penguins Face Jaguars in Dual Meet Showdown

Youngstown State's swimming and diving teams are gearing up for their first competitive meet of 2025, taking on Horizon League rival IU Indianapolis in a two-day dual at the IU Natatorium this weekend. The Penguins are looking to build on their recent performance at the Magnus Cup Invitational, where the men's team secured a commendable third place with 1,240 points. Notable performances included Gavin Webb's impressive victories in the 500 free and 1650 free, as well as Jacob Gramer's record-setting swim in the 50 butterfly. The men's relay teams also made headlines by setting new program records in both the 200-medley and 400-free relays.

On the women's side, Hanna Held excelled in the platform diving event, while Oliwia Kaniak established new program records in the 100 breaststroke and the preliminary round of the 100 IM. Despite finishing ninth overall, the women's team showcased their talent and determination against strong competition.

The IU Indianapolis Jaguars enter the meet with a strong record, boasting an undefeated men's team at 3-0 and a women's team standing at 4-2 in duals. Their recent performance at the House of Champions Invitational saw the men's team clinch first place, further highlighting the competitive nature of this upcoming dual meet.

As the Penguins prepare to face the Jaguars, they will also look ahead to their next challenge at Denison University on January 18.
