Tech Swimming Faces Mixed Results Against Auburn

Georgia Tech swimming and diving kicked off 2025 with a tri-meet featuring Auburn and Carson-Newman, showcasing a blend of strong performances and challenges. On the men's side, Georgia Tech triumphed over Carson-Newman with a decisive score but encountered a setback against Auburn. The women's team mirrored this pattern, achieving a solid victory over Carson-Newman while falling short against Auburn.

Highlighting the meet, sophomore Max Fowler delivered an impressive diving performance, sweeping both the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 379.50 and 405.30, respectively. Anna Bradescu also shone in the diving category, winning the 1-meter event with a score of 284.55.

In the pool, freshman Uros Zivanovic made his mark by clinching the 100 breaststroke with a time of 52.70. Phoebe Wright secured the only event win for the women in the 200 back, clocking in at 1:56.61, marking her fourth victory of the season. Berke Saka added to the team's success by finishing first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:46.20.

Other notable performances included Zara Masud's third-place finish in the 1000 free, Lili Gyurinovics and Sophie Murphy's close finishes in the 200 free, and Saka's strong showing in the 100 back. The relay teams also demonstrated competitive spirit, with the women's 200 medley relay finishing third and the men's team taking second in their respective events.

Overall, the meet highlighted both the strengths and areas for improvement for Georgia Tech as they continue their season.
