Jalen Neal Joins CF Montreal in Major Trade

LA Galaxy has made a significant move by trading rising USMNT defender Jalen Neal to CF Montreal. In exchange, LA Galaxy has secured $450,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for 2025, $200,000 in GAM for 2026, and a 2025 International Roster Slot. Neal, a promising 21-year-old talent, has already earned six caps for the USMNT and was a homegrown player for LA Galaxy. Since signing a professional contract in 2021, he has made 46 appearances for the club.

Neal played a crucial role in LA Galaxy's successful 2024 MLS Cup-winning season, contributing with 14 starts. However, his playoff participation was limited due to previous injuries. As he transitions to CF Montreal, Neal is expected to sign a new contract and will be part of a rebuilding project ahead of the 2025 season. He will reunite with former U.S. youth international Caden Clark, adding to the excitement of this new chapter in his career.

In another notable transfer, American forward Brandon Vazquez has moved to Austin FC from Mexican club Monterrey. Vazquez has signed a four-year contract with an option for 2029. He brings valuable experience as an MLS All-Star from 2022, having previously played for Atlanta United and FC Cincinnati. During his time with Cincinnati, he scored 26 goals in 62 regular-season games and added 14 goals in all competitions while with Monterrey.
