Melbourne, with the second pick, has been actively scouting talent, particularly focusing on the Western Australian duo of Zippy Fish and Molly O’Hehir. Fish is widely regarded as the top West Australian prospect, but O’Hehir has gained significant momentum in recent weeks. Both Melbourne and the GWS Giants, who have the third pick, have shown strong interest in O’Hehir, flying to Perth to interview her.
The draft also holds significant interest due to the situations of Emelia Yassir and Paige Scott. Yassir, who had sought a move to Essendon, is now likely to sign a short-term extension with Richmond until the end of 2025.
