UEFA investigates Turkey player Merih Demiral

Merih Demiral, a football player for Turkey, was the subject of a UEFA inquiry over his "alleged inappropriate behavior" after he celebrated a goal at Euro 2024 by making a hand gesture connected to an extreme nationalist organization.

In a 2-1 victory over Austria on Tuesday, Demiral scored both goals to secure a trip to the quarterfinals.

Following his second goal, he seemed to make a gesture with both hands, symbolizing the ultra-nationalist group Ulku Ocaklari, also known as the Gray Wolves in Turkey.
