MacIntyre says rest in Oban shows US Open ambition

While the elite players he defeated on Sunday to win the Canadian Open are back on the USPGA Tour, Bob MacIntyre plans to "probably have a few drinks with my mates in the house at the weekend" in Oban.

However, the 27-year-old Scot claims that his choice to pull out of the Memorial Tournament demonstrates the pinnacle of his desire and "was no disrespect" to Jack Nicklaus, the event's host.

His first triumph on the circuit guaranteed him a spot in one of its flagship tournaments, with a £15.7 million prize fund.
