Leagues and Players Criticize FIFA's Calendar

During a meeting of the World Leagues Forum in London in April, the French Professional Football League (LFP) abstained from voting on FIFA's proposed changes to the international match calendar. The leagues and players' union accused FIFA of making unilateral decisions that prioritize its own competitions and commercial interests, while negatively impacting national leagues and players.

They warned of potential legal action if FIFA doesn't address their concerns. The proposed changes have caused economic harm to national leagues and strained players' schedules. The leagues and players are calling for a rescheduling of the Club World Cup and a reopening of discussions on the international calendar until 2030.
