The match began with Blackpool taking an early lead through Ashley Fletcher's goal in the third minute. This victory keeps Wrexham in third place in the League One standings, just a point behind second-placed Wycombe, although Wrexham has played more games. Both Wycombe and league leaders Birmingham City also secured wins on Boxing Day, maintaining the intense competition at the top of the table.
