Inspired by a few seconds of TV footage, David Weir went on to have an amazing career spanning three decades. His life's ambition was to compete in the London Marathon.

Weir, who is 45 years old and has established himself as a race legend, will compete in the capital this Sunday for the 25th time in his career. Equipped with a new racing chair, which has allowed him to surpass personal records over a variety of track distances and provide him with the means to get back into the running for a ninth London victory, Weir will be looking to make history.
