Alcaraz beats Daniil Medvedev to defend title

In a rematch of last year's final, world number two Carlos Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to defend his Indian Wells championship.

Alcaraz, 20, defeated Russia's world number four 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 to win his first trophy since Wimbledon in July.

The Spaniard was coming off an ankle ailment that forced him to quit from his first match at the Rio Open last month.
