Griggs' U20 bronze helps Ireland to team gold

Fionnuala McCormack narrowly missed winning a medal in Brussels during the European Cross-Country Championships.

With a strong final lap in challenging conditions, the Wicklow woman finished strongly, but she never really threatened the podium because she had too much work to do in the closing stages to catch the top three. She finished fourth for the fifth time.

Norway's Caroline Bjerkeli Grovdal won with ease, displaying class throughout. In the final stages of the race, Italy's Nadia Battocletti defeated Britain's Abbie Donnelly in a thrilling battle for silver.
