Shaqiri contract to be terminated

Midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri's contract with the Chicago Fire has been amicably terminated, freeing up senior and international roster spaces for the team that is currently ranked next to worst in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer.



Shaqiri, 32, joined the Fire in February 2022 as a designated player via transfer from Lyon of France's Ligue 1, and in 75 games with 63 starts across all competitions, he has 16 goals and 20 assists.
