Shaqiri retires from international football


Following a 14-year tenure with the Swiss national team, former winger for Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri, announced his retirement from international football on Monday.


For Switzerland, Shaqiri has participated in 125 games and scored 32 goals. From the World Cup 2010 to the Euro 2024, he is the only player from Switzerland to have participated in seven major competitions.

The 32-year-old played in two matches as Switzerland lost in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024.
