Nigeria Women Edge Uganda in Thrilling T20I Clash

Nigeria Women clinch a thrilling 4-run victory over Uganda in the Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament.

In a nail-biting encounter at the Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament, Nigeria Women triumphed over Uganda Women by a mere 4 runs, showcasing their resilience and skill. Batting first, Nigeria Women managed to post a modest total of 73 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The innings saw a steady contribution from Muhibat K Amusa, who anchored the innings with a gritty 30 runs off 52 balls, while Esther Iloku, Salome Sunday, and Immaculate Nakisuuyi chipped in with valuable runs.

However, it was the Nigerian bowlers who truly shone, with Anointed Akhigbe earning the Player of the Match title for her exceptional bowling performance, claiming 3 wickets for just 11 runs in 4 overs. Rachael Samson also made a significant impact, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs, as they restricted Uganda Women to a total of 69 runs, all out in 20 overs. Janet Mbabazi was a standout performer for Uganda, taking 4 wickets for 16 runs, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory.

This match is a testament to the competitive spirit of the Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament, a vital platform for associate cricket nations in Africa, as the Nigeria Cricket Federation continues to develop the sport in the country.
