Collingwood announces Darcy Moore as captain for the 2025 AFL season amid exciting pre-season matchups.

Collingwood Football Club has unveiled its new leadership group for the 2025 AFL season, with Darcy Moore continuing as captain. He will be supported by vice-captains Brayden Maynard and Nick Daicos, alongside leaders Darcy Cameron, Dan McStay, Isaac Quaynor, and Jamie Elliott. Jeremy Howe has stepped back from the leadership group but remains a vital player on the field.

Pre-season matches are heating up, with Collingwood set to face the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns on February 20 at People First Stadium. Each match will consist of two 25-minute periods, providing a crucial opportunity for teams to fine-tune their strategies. Additionally, Carlton will take on St Kilda on February 22 at IKON Park in a match simulation featuring four 20-minute quarters.

The VFL (Victorian Football League) has also commenced its pre-season practice matches, with Footscray Bulldogs recently defeating Essendon 13.12 (9 to 11.4 (7 at Whitten Oval. The VFL 2025 fixture is yet to be announced, but it will include the same 21 teams as the previous season. Meanwhile, ESPN has released its AFL Coaching Pressure Power Rankings for 2025, assessing the job security of various coaches as the new season approaches.
