Messi and Vinícius Júnior Vie for FIFA`s Best Player Award

The 2024 Best FIFA Football Awards, held in Qatar on December 17, saw a highly anticipated competition for the Best FIFA Men's Player award. Among the eleven finalists, Manchester City's Rodri Hernández and Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior are the top contenders for this prestigious honor.

Rodri Hernández, who played a crucial role in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph, and Vinícius Júnior, who was instrumental in Real Madrid's 15th European Cup win, are the favorites to take home the award. This competition follows a tight race in the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or, where Rodri narrowly edged out Vinícius by just 41 points.

Other notable finalists include Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and the back-to-back holder, Lionel Messi. The award winners are determined by a combination of votes from national-team captains, national-team coaches, journalists, and fans, with each group’s votes weighted equally.

The ceremony, which took place at an event in Qatar, also recognized achievements in other categories, including the Best FIFA Women’s Player, Best FIFA Men’s Coach, and Best FIFA Women’s Coach.
