This competition follows a tight race in the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or, where Rodri narrowly edged out Vinícius by just 41 points.
Other notable finalists include Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and the back-to-back holder, Lionel Messi. The award winners are determined by a combination of votes from national-team captains, national-team coaches, journalists, and fans, with each group’s votes weighted equally.
The ceremony, which took place at an event in Qatar, also recognized achievements in other categories, including the Best FIFA Women’s Player, Best FIFA Men’s Coach, and Best FIFA Women’s Coach.
