Tiafoe sets up semi-final against Fritz

Francis Tiafoe set up a U.S. Open semifinal against Taylor Fritz to ensure an American will play in the first singles final in New York in 18 years.
Andy Roddick was the last American to win a Grand Slam singles title, winning at Flushing Meadows in 2003. Roddick was also the last American to reach the US Open final, losing to Roger Federer in 2006.
