Denison`s men`s tennis team makes history, winning their first national championship, while Washburn advances to the finals.

Washburn University`s men`s tennis team, ranked No. 9, delivered a stunning performance, sweeping No. 7 UT Tyler in the semifinals. The dynamic duo of Tommy Cecchetti and Vasek Schneider set the tone early, clinching their No. 2 doubles match 6-3, which propelled Washburn to a decisive victory and a spot in the national championship with an impressive season record of 23-3.

In a remarkable display of resilience, the Denison Men`s Tennis Team etched their name in history by securing their first national championship title. They triumphed over Case Western Reserve with a hard-fought 4-2 victory. Key to this success was Payiavlas, who delivered a crucial singles match win, defeating Salazar Garza 7-5, 6-3, leveling the match at two apiece before Denison seized control to claim the championship.

Meanwhile, Lubbock Christian University faced a tough end to their season, bowing out with a 4-0 semifinal loss to the top-seeded Valdosta State, marking the conclusion of their deepest run in program history. The atmosphere across various collegiate venues was electric, reflecting a growing interest in collegiate tennis as fans rallied behind their teams.

As the collegiate scene heats up, the professional arena is buzzing with anticipation for the ongoing 2025 French Open at Roland Garros, where defending champions Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz are in action, alongside world No. 1s Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka.
