Stanford men`s tennis team, led by Basing, clinched the ACC title with a thrilling 4-2 win over Virginia.
Stanford`s men`s tennis team, ranked No. 8, secured the ACC title with a hard-fought victory over No. 6 Virginia. The match concluded with a score of 4-2, showcasing the resilience of the Stanford squad. After sophomore Kyle Kang fell on court two, the pressure mounted as Virginia narrowed the lead to 3-2. However, Stanford`s Basing delivered a decisive performance, clinching the championship with a 7-5, 6-2 win on court three, marking his third consecutive match victory in the tournament.
In the semifinals, Stanford staged a remarkable comeback against the Blue Devils, winning 4-2 after initially losing the doubles point on courts one and three, as well as the top singles match. The team rallied with four consecutive singles victories, highlighted by Rivera`s 6-3, 6-2 win on court six, and Basing`s three-set triumph on court three, which secured their place in the final.
Earlier in the quarterfinals against the Seminoles, Stanford faced a 2-3 deficit but rallied to win the doubles point, thanks to Kang and von der Schulenburg`s victory over the No. 18 ranked doubles team.
