Anahat Singh Battles Top Talent at PSA Championships

Anahat Singh and Veer Chotrani put up fierce fights at the PSA World Championships, facing top-ranked opponents in Chicago.

The 2024-2025 PSA World Championships, presented by the Walter Family, are currently underway in Chicago, USA, from May 9 to 17, 2025. The event has already showcased thrilling matches, particularly on May 12, where Indian players made notable strides against formidable opponents.

Anahat Singh, ranked world No. 62, faced off against Egypt`s Fayrouz Aboelkheir, ranked 15th. In a competitive 28-minute match, Singh lost 3-1, with scores of 11-7, 8-11, 11-4, and 11-3. Earlier in the tournament, she had pulled off an impressive upset against USA`s Marina Stefanoni, ranked No. 28, in a five-game thriller.

Veer Chotrani, ranked 57, also demonstrated resilience against world No. 2 and four-time world champion Ali Farag of Egypt. Chotrani lost 3-1 in a closely contested match that lasted 32 minutes, with a scoreline of 7-11, 11-7, 11-3, and 12-10, after holding a game point in the fourth. He had previously triumphed over England`s Declan James, ranked No. 28, in the first round.

The championship features elite players like Ali Farag, Mostafa Asal, Paul Coll, and Amanda Sobhy, who is ranked No. 9 in the women`s category. The Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Centre is buzzing with excitement as fans gather for one of the premier squash events globally.
