Kerr takes 1500m silver as Hocker claims gold

Jakob Ingebrigtsen failed to secure a medal in the 1500m Olympic competition, and Josh Kerr of Great Britain had to settle for silver behind surprise winner Cole Hocker.

American Hocker defeated world gold winner Kerr and reigning Olympic champion Ingebrigtsen on the inside to win his first global outdoor title as the two competed in the highly anticipated race for the crown.

Hocker won gold in an Olympic record time of three minutes 27.65 seconds with a well-timed closing burst.
