Gloucestershire`s Bracey Shines in County Championship

Gloucestershire`s Bracey scored 151, while Kent`s Compton hit 144 in a thrilling County Championship match.

Gloucestershire posted a formidable first innings total of 472 runs against Kent in the Rothesay County Championship match at Canterbury. James Bracey led the charge with an impressive unbeaten 151, showcasing his batting prowess. Kent`s response on day two was commendable, as they reached 318 for seven at stumps, trailing by 154 runs. Ben Compton emerged as Kent`s star performer, scoring a fluent 144 not out, marking a significant milestone by surpassing 3,000 first-class runs for the county.

Grant Stewart added a valuable 51 runs before falling to Ollie Price in the final over. Despite Gloucestershire`s large total, Kent`s Nathan Gilchrist delivered a standout bowling performance, achieving career-best figures of seven for 100. Gloucestershire`s lower order also contributed, with Marchand de Lange smashing a rapid 51 off just 27 balls, including two massive sixes off Jas Singh.

Cameron Green, who had retired hurt on 100 the previous day, returned to complete his century with a score of 112 before being dismissed lbw by Gilchrist. The match highlighted strong individual performances and competitive cricket at the County Championship level, with notable contributions from both teams.

In youth cricket, Nottinghamshire U18s faced defeat against Leicestershire, despite Dan Cole`s five wickets and Byron Hatton-Lowe`s half-century. Kathryn Bryce was recognized as ICC Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
