Cooper Flagg Shines Bright in NBA Summer League

Cooper Flagg dazzles with 31 points in Summer League, while Aliyah Boston emerges as a WNBA MVP contender.

Cooper Flagg, the highly-touted Duke basketball product, electrified the NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas with a dazzling performance against the San Antonio Spurs. After a quiet debut, Flagg erupted for a game-high 31 points in just 31 minutes, showcasing his scoring prowess with a shooting line of 10-for-21 from the field, including 3-for-9 from beyond the arc, and 8-for-13 from the charity stripe. The 6-foot-9 forward also added four rebounds, one assist, and one block to his impressive stat sheet, despite a few turnovers marring his otherwise stellar outing. As the No. 1 overall draft pick, Flagg is poised to make waves next season with the Dallas Mavericks, joining fellow Duke alumni Dereck Lively II and Kyrie Irving.

The Mavericks are set to face off against the Charlotte Hornets on July 14, 2025, featuring former Duke stars Kon Knueppel and Sion James, promising an exciting matchup at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV. Meanwhile, Sacramento Kings rookie Maxime Raynaud displayed maturity in his debut against the Orlando Magic, though his conditioning will need attention as he fatigued late in the game. On the women`s side, South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley has thrown her support behind Indiana Fever center Aliyah Boston as a WNBA MVP candidate, highlighting her evolution into a well-rounded player. While Napheesa Collier leads the MVP race, Boston`s trajectory suggests she could soon challenge for the top spot as the season unfolds.
