Indonesia Claims First Mixed Team Title Over China

Indonesia defeated China 3-1 to win their first Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships title in Qingdao.

Indonesia triumphed over China in the final of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025, securing their first gold medal in this prestigious tournament. The final, held on February 16 at the Conson Sports Centre in Qingdao, China, concluded with a decisive 3-1 victory for Indonesia.

The Indonesian mixed doubles duo, Rinov Rivaldy and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, set the tone early by defeating China`s Gao Jiaxuan and Wu Mengying with a commanding score of 21-11, 21-13. Following this, Alwi Farhan extended Indonesia`s lead by outplaying Hu Zhean of China in the men`s singles, winning 21-15, 21-13.

China`s Xu Wenjing, the reigning World Junior champion, managed to secure a point for her team by overcoming Putri Kusuma Wardani in straight games. However, the Indonesian men`s doubles pair, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin, clinched the championship by defeating Chen Xujun and Huang Di of China with a score of 21-15, 21-9.

Earlier in the semifinals, China narrowly edged out Japan with a 3-2 victory, showcasing a thrilling contest that included a decisive win by Chen Xujun and Huang Di in the men`s doubles. The tournament, which ran from February 11 to 16, also served as a qualifier for the Sudirman Cup, with Japan and Thailand taking home bronze medals.
