Jason Gunawan lost to Kidambi Srikanth at the Thailand Masters, as Hong Kong prepares for the Asia Mixed Team Championships.

Hong Kong`s badminton player Jason Gunawan faced a tough challenge at the Thailand Masters 2025, where he was eliminated in the men`s singles round of 16. Competing against India`s Kidambi Srikanth, Gunawan, ranked 41st, started strong but ultimately succumbed to Srikanth`s skill. The match concluded with a score of 21-19, 21-15, showcasing Srikanth`s ability to rally back after trailing early in the first game.

Despite leading 6-2 at the outset, Gunawan`s momentum waned as Srikanth adjusted his strategy, narrowing the gap to 11-9 at the mid-game break. The second game saw Srikanth maintain control, leading 11-8 at the halfway mark and securing his victory with consistent play.

Looking ahead, Hong Kong`s badminton team is gearing up for the Asia Mixed Team Championships, scheduled for February 11-16 in Qingdao, China. The men`s singles lineup features world No. 20 Angus Ng Ka Long, Lee Cheuk Yiu, and Jason Gunawan, promising a competitive edge in the tournament. The women`s doubles will include the world No. 13 pair Yeung Pui Lam and Yeung Nga Ting, while the mixed doubles team boasts two-time World Championship bronze medallists Tan Chung Man and Ng Tsz Yau, adding depth and experience to the squad.
