China`s badminton team showcased their dominance at the 2025 German Open, with several players advancing to the quarterfinals. In men`s singles, world No. 3 Shi Yuqi delivered a solid performance, defeating Indonesia`s Jonatan Christie with scores of 21-18, 21-16. Women`s singles star Chen Yufei also progressed after a thrilling match against Thailand`s Pornpawee Chochuwong, winning 21-19, 18-21, 21-15.

In mixed doubles, the world No. 1 pair Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong easily overcame Malaysia`s Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing, winning 21-12, 21-15. However, Olympic champions Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping faced disappointment, losing a closely contested match to Indonesia`s Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari with scores of 19-21, 21-18, 18-21.

The tournament, held at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, features a total prize pool of $240,000. China`s women`s doubles team, top seeds Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan, narrowly escaped elimination against Indonesia`s Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, winning 18-21, 21-18, 21-15. They will face Japan`s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, in men`s doubles, Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi continued China`s strong showing by defeating England`s Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 21-17, 21-19, setting up a clash with Indonesia`s Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin.
