India Shines at Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships

India and Malaysia showcased strong performances at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Qingdao, highlighting key players and rankings.

The Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Qingdao, China, showcased thrilling performances from various national teams. India kicked off their campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Macau in Group D. However, the absence of star player PV Sindhu posed challenges for the team. Despite this setback, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran in men`s singles and the women`s doubles duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly displayed resilience, fighting back from two matches down to keep India`s hopes alive.

Malaysian men`s doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun made headlines by winning both their group stage matches against Indonesia and Hong Kong. Their impressive form has propelled them to a career-high ranking of No. 11, just outside the top 10. They previously triumphed over world No. 5 teammates Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and world No. 4 Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto to clinch the Indonesian Masters title last month.

Additionally, mixed doubles players Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin from Malaysia climbed to a career-high No. 14 in the world rankings after their participation in the championships, despite a tough loss to Tang Chun Man-Ng Tsz Yau in the group stage against Hong Kong.
