The UK Athletics Indoor Championships feature top Welsh athletes competing for national titles and World Championship spots.

The 2025 UK Athletics Indoor Championships are set to ignite the track and field scene this weekend at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. Athletes will compete for national titles and coveted spots on the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team ahead of the World and European Athletics Indoor Championships in March.

Around 40 Welsh athletes are ready to showcase their talents, including standout performers like Melissa Courtney-Bryant from Poole AC, who recently set a world-leading time of 8:28.69 in the 3,000m, breaking the Welsh record by nine seconds. Justin Davies from Team Bath will also be a key contender, having shattered the Welsh indoor 800m record with a time of 1:45.78.

Other notable competitors include Cari Hughes from Cardiff Athletics, who is closing in on qualifying standards, and Emily Belgrave from Belgrave Harriers, aiming to improve her 1500m time. Abi Pawlett from Trafford will compete in the 60m hurdles and women’s shot, having recently set a new Welsh 60m hurdles record.

The men’s 1500m will feature Piers Copeland and James Heneghan from Pontypridd Roadents, while the women’s 400m includes Hannah Brier and Tess McHugh.
