Samuel Eto'o Announces Prize Money For 2022/2023 Cameroon MTN Elite One Season

Cameroon Football Federation has announced the prize money for all participating clubs of the Cameroon MTN elite one ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

 

The announcements was made by the Cameroon FA President, Samuel Eto'o during an important consultation Thursday in Yaoundé between the President of FECAFOOT and the club promoters of the MTN Elite One championship.

 

 For the next season, the MTN Elite One clubs are spoiled!  Each team will receive a subsidy of 48 million FCFA ($75,000), announced the President of FECAFOOT during this meeting which was held at the headquarters of the federation.  Another revolution, the champion of Cameroon for the 2022/2023 season will receive an envelope of 50 million FCFA ($78,000) for the title and another of 50 million FCFA ($78,000) for participation in the Champions League, i.e. a total of 100 million FCFA ($156,000).

 

 An envelope of 5 million FCFA will be allocated to each club for the creation of a youth team U15 and U17.  Samuel Eto'o also announced the payment to the clubs of the rest of the state subsidy for the past season, as soon as the money is available.

 

 In order to cut short the controversies maintained by a certain press, the President revealed the amount paid by the sponsor MTN each year.

 

 To make the clubs more competitive on a professional level, he announced the organization of a training seminar for the administrative managers of the clubs.  This will allow all clubs to be up to date in the daily management of their various structures.  As a result, we should observe a speed in justifying the expenses incurred.

 

 Samuel Eto'o also announced the holding of the Golden Ball ceremony which will reward the best players in the Cameroonian championships.  For him, the concept of the Cameroonian Ballon d'Or must be exhumed.  There is also the champions trophy which will be organized by the federation with an American Show.

 

 The start of the championship is scheduled for October 15, 2022 and ends in April 2023. 

 

 The MTN Elite Two Championship starts on October 29, while the Guinness Super League kicks off on November 5 and ends on March 26, 2023. The Cameroon Cup will be launched in March 2023 and the date of the final proposed for the  month of May 2023.

The Champions Trophy which will pit the champion against the winner of the cup will take place on October 12, 2022. 

 

The Golden Ball ceremony will be held on the same day.  A proposal for the dates of the Cameroon Cup this year has already been made to the President Paul Biya

 

 On a purely sporting level, the formular of the championship in two sub-groups will be maintained.  11 teams per group, the last two of each group will be relegated.  The play-offs will take place in the championship formula.  The place will be determined by the President of the federation.

 

 The group draw was made to prevent teams from the same region from ending up in the same group.

 At the end of the meeting, the club presidents expressed their satisfaction.  “The President of FECAFOOT has kept his word, he had promised that he will double the envelope of the subsidy, he has done so.  We start from 23 million to 48 million FCFA”, rejoiced Pascal Abunde, president of PWD of Bamenda and president of ACEC, the collective of presidents of elite clubs in Cameroon.

 

 Regarding the World Cup in Qatar, Samuel ETO'O announces that all MTN Elite One club presidents will travel, but in waves.
