[Nigeria] FC Chimooski Battle Maro 11 Speedstar in 2021 Prince GT Developmental League Opener

The face of grassroot football will change in Warri, when the 2021 Prince GT Developmental League will get under way formally with FC Chimooski entertaining Maro11 Speedstar Football Academy in an enthralling league opener on Friday, September 10, 2021.

For some followers of grassroot football in Warri, FC Chimooski would have a stroll in the park against their Ughelli-based opponents, Maro11 Speedstar, as the team managed by former Warri Wolves head coach, Paul Offor, are brimming intensely with the desire to go for the kill and claim all maximum points.

In spite of this overwhelming confidence reposed in his team, Coach Offor sees Maro 11 Speedstar as a fantastic unit, willing to dare to believe against any other side.

"They're young team," Coach Paul Offor stated during the pre-match presser at the Warri City Stadium.

"They're good and have the raw hunger. I have seen them trained before now."

"There was a time in the past that their manager invited me to train with them. I saw them."

"We expect them to be at their best against us on Friday afternoon."

For the manager of Maro 11 Speedstar Football Academy, Maro Echewa, FC Chimooski would be a good test for his side, noting that the Orange club play good brand of progressive attacking football.

"They're an attacking team," Echewa noted.

"They have a manager, who believes and interprets attacking football very well, with the he sets out his team to play."

"Their transition from defence to attack is something we have to be wary of here."

"We would love to see how we would contain them and try to play our game."

"The Prince GT Developmental League is a laudable iniative. It will give us the opportunity to showcase our boys."

"I'm expecting good football here. It'll not be a do-or-die affair competition. Young players, who are very good, would be discovered."

The 3:30pm clash on Friday will feature largely U-15 and U-17 players from both FC Chimooski and Maro 11 Speedstar Football Academy, as participating teams are expected to register about fifteen U-17 and five U-15 players in their teams.

Friday's opener will one of the anticipated 58 different games to come up in the league.

Eight grassroot football clubs are taking part in the Prince GT Developmental League across 14 Matchday at the Warri City Stadium.
