CAF Inspects Liberia Stadium Ahead Of World Cup Qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has completed the inspection of the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) sports complex.

CAF inspector Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi of Ghana arrived on 1 August and inspected renovation works from 2-3 August.

Dasoberi inspected the VVIP lounge, bathrooms, media and conference room, dressing rooms, hospitals, hotels, playing pitch and other facilities.

He was pleased with the works at the SKD but urged Liberia to do more in the area of media tribune, medical facilities and tunnel among others.

Dasoberi was accompanied on the inspection by Liberia Football Association club licensing manager Alex Nagbo, club licensing officer Tommy Johnson and Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie.

CAF banned the SKD from hosting the 2022 World Cup qualifiers on 2 May because it didn’t meet the minimum stadium requirements to hold international matches.

But the ban was suspended few hours later following President George Weah’s intervention to improve conditions at the SKD.

Dasoberi will report to FIFA, thru CAF, who will inform Liberia next week as to whether it will host the qualifiers, which start in September, away from home.
