King Faisal struggles against Karela.

 




 
Karela United scored late to draw 1-1 with King Faisal on match day 22 of the Ghana Premier League at the Ohene Ameyaw Park at Techiman on Sunday. Maxwell Boakye scored in injury time to dent King Faisal’s hopes of picking the three points after netting early in the first half.

Zubairu Ibrahim who scored in their 1-0 win over Inter Allies on match day 21 gave them the lead as he rose high to head in Enoch Morrison’s cross inside 13 minutes.

Before the opener, Zubairu Ibrahim had his strike hitting the crossbar as Enoch Morrison also forced a save from Karela goalkeeper Yaw Ansah.


After dominating the early exchanges, King Faisal took the lead on 13 minutes after Zubairu headed in a cross from Morisson.

Isaac Frimpong was denied by the post as King Faisal kept pushing for the second goal. Buoyed by last weekend’s win in Dawu, King Faisal was a delight to watch as they put in a ferocious display to end the first half with a 1-0 advantage.

Former Black Satellites midfielder Latif Salifu was brought on for Isaac Frimpong as they pressed for another goal.

As the clock ticked down, Maxwell Boakye scored the equaliser to break the hearts of King Faisal fans late on.


King Faisal have yet to lose in their last three games – Karela United continue their struggle in the second half of the season after going five matches without a win.
