[Liberia] LFA Hammer Falls on Small Town with L$15,000 Fines and Awards Three Points to United

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has fined Small Town L$15,000 and awarded three points and two goals to Nimba United.

It followed their late arrival for an Orange first division match with United at the North Star sports pitch in Mount Barclay on 7 March.

According to the match commissioner and referee’s reports, Small Town arrived 15 minutes after the 3:30PM kick-off in violation of chapter 10, article one, sections 1.2 and 1.3 of the rules governing the Orange national league (2020/2021 season).

Section 1.2 states that “a club reporting 25 minutes to kick-off will be fined L$15,000 and said amount shall be paid before the club’s immediate match. If the clubs reports five minutes after kick, said club forfeits the match in question”.

Section 1.3 states that “failure of a club showing-up for a scheduled match constitutes forfeiture and any team forfeiting three league matches due to lateness constitutes expulsion from the league and automatic relegation”.

Acting secretary-general John Bonah signed the circular sent to the clubs on 11 March.
