Volleyball: 9 Africa Teams Qualified For Age Group World Championship

In the crucial challenging environment of Covid-19, the African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” declared the qualifiers to this year Age Group Championships where 9 African teams get their qualifications tickets to the 4 different Age category elite championships.

Although the tough situation, CAVB organised 3 of the 4 continental competitions which are Men’s U21 in Egypt, Boys U19 and Girls U18 in Cameroon, while the Women’s U20 was cancelled due to organizational difficulties in Uganda and their substitute Madagascar due to the Pandemic.

In the 2021 Men’s U21 World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria 23 September to 3 October 2021, three African teams got their tickets there as the champions of African Championship Egypt as well as the runners up Cameroon qualified to the finals along with Morocco the third placed team who qualified through the ranking being the 10th in the World in FIVB Ranking.

African Champions U19 Nigeria and runner up Cameroon got their places in the World Championship of this age category to be held in Iran 24 August to 2 September 2021.

The Girls U18 African Championship in Abuja featured champions Cameroon and runner up Nigeria qualifying to the World Championship in Mexico 20 -29 September 2021.

Through the ranking Egypt U20 team ranked 17th and Rwanda No 18 qualified to the World championship U21 in Netherlands and Belgium 9-18 July 2021.

CAVB Board of Administration members congratulate the National Federations of Cameroon, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Rwanda for the qualification of their respective teams to FIVB World Championships and make an appeal that they do all register for the world championships.

The board also send the gratitude to the national federations of Egypt and Nigeria for their efforts to organise the competition in this tough situation
