Nigeria D'Tigress Becomes First African Team To Break Into FIBA World Top 10

Nigeria D'Tigress breaks into the World 10 in the latest Women's FIBA World Rankings  released on  August Thursday 29 and becomes the first African team to achieve the feat. 

 

Nigeria D'Tigress  were among the big headlines in the latest ranking,  jumping four places and into the top 10 of the rankings in eighth place.

 

D'Tigress sealed a rookie Group Phase victory, racked up two wins for the first time and also became the first African nation (men or women) to compete in the Quarter-Finals at the Olympics.

 

D'Tigress found early momentum for their historic accomplishments by beating Australia on opening day in Lille,  osing  to host France before bouncing back to beat Canada in their last group game to reach the quarter-Finals where they lost to eventual Champions the USA. 

 

The next event for the D'Tigress is the 2025 Afrobasket Championship in Abidjan, Ivory Coast where they will seek for direct qualifications to the 2026 World Cup by winning the championship.
