Pakistani Olympic Gold Medalist, Arshad Nadeem said he expected some acres of land from his father-in-law and not Buffalo.
Arshad's father-in-law - the father of his wife Ayesha - gifted the star athlete a buffalo, after his javelin throw gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024.
Nadeem humorously expressed that he had hoped for land instead, but appreciated the gesture. The athlete, residing with his family in Punjab, remains closely tied to his rural roots despite his international success.
On being asked by the Pakistani journalist about the gift, Arshad Nadeem said.
"She (his wife) told me, I said buffalo? He should have given me 5-6 acres of land, but ok buffalo is also fine. Mashallah, he is so rich and yet he gave a buffalo."
Arshad Nadeem became Pakistan's first individual Olympic gold medallist when he won the javelin throw with a record record-breaking javelin throw of 92.97 metres (305ft) at Stade de France at the Paris Olympic Games on August 8, 2024.
The Pakistani also received a cash reward of Rs. 5 million ($20,000) from WAPDA for his achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
