India’s History in Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship

The Indian Volleyball team finished 11th in the recently concluded Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship 2023 after beating Iraq in the (11th-12th) classification match. India commenced their campaign with a defeat to Qatar in three sets (0-3). However, they showcased a commanding performance, emerging victorious over Afghanistan with a score-line of (25-15, 25-23, 23-24, 25-19), thus securing their position in the knockout stage.

 

In the Round of 12, the blue colts lost in a close encounter to China (2-3) and the slip continued further with the loss against Indonesia (0-3) in the (7th-10th) classification match

History of Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship

The Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship is an esteemed international volleyball tournament held in Asia and Oceania. This highly anticipated event showcases the remarkable skills and talents of senior men’s national teams representing the respective members of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), which serves as the governing body for the sport in the continent.

 

The inaugural tournament took place in 1975, featuring the participation of seven national teams. The distinguished honor of claiming the first gold medal was achieved by the Japan men’s national volleyball team. Subsequently, in the succeeding edition held in 1979, it was the China men’s national volleyball team that emerged as the trimphout victors
