The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to kick off on February 20, with India facing Bangladesh in their opening match. Following this, a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai, and India will conclude the group stage with a match against New Zealand on March 3. The tournament, co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE, will feature a total of 15 50-over matches across the two venues.
Before the Champions Trophy, India will engage in a five-match T20I series against England, starting on January 22 in Kolkata. The series will continue with matches in Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, and conclude in Mumbai on February 2. The squad for this T20I series has already been revealed, with Suryakumar Yadav taking the helm as captain. Notably, Mohammed Shami makes his return to the team after a hiatus since the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Speculation surrounds the potential inclusion of Sanju Samson in the Champions Trophy squad. Former spinner Harbhajan Singh has pointed out that while Samson has been in impressive form in T20Is, his absence from the Vijay Hazare Trophy could jeopardize his chances for the ODI squad. The three-match ODI series against England is scheduled for February 6, 9, and 12, serving as India`s final ODI matches before the Champions Trophy 2025.
