CF Montreal Signs Prince Owusu for 2025 Season

CF Montreal Signs Prince Owusu for 2025 Season

CF Montreal has kicked off its pre-season with a focus on strengthening its squad for the upcoming Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign. A key highlight is the signing of forward Prince Owusu, who has joined the club on a two-year contract with an option for an additional year in 2027. This move signals Montreal`s ambition to enhance its attacking options as they prepare for a competitive season ahead.

Toronto FC has also made significant strides in the transfer market, securing Canadian winger Theo Corbeanu on loan from Granada. Corbeanu, a native of Hamilton, Ontario, has previously showcased his talent with TFC III in League1 Ontario before advancing through the ranks at Wolverhampton Wanderers. His return to Toronto FC is expected to bolster their offensive capabilities.

In the Canadian Premier League, York United has been active in the transfer window, signing defender Cameron DaSilva from Simcoe County Rovers on a one-year deal with options for 2026 and 2027. Additionally, York United has added Riley Ferrazzo, who previously played for Vaughan Azurri in League1 Ontario, further strengthening their defensive lineup.

In broader MLS news, the New England Revolution has signed free agent forward Maximiliano Urruti to a one-year contract, with an option for 2026. Urruti brings a wealth of experience to the Revolution, having played for various teams, including Toronto FC, Portland Timbers, and FC Dallas.

The Chicago Fire are reportedly in preliminary discussions with Brazilian superstar Neymar, aiming to present a financial package comparable to Lionel Messi`s deal with Inter Miami. However, Neymar`s camp is seeking a higher figure, which could complicate negotiations.

Austin FC has made headlines with a record transfer deal for Granada winger Myrto Uzuni, costing the club $12.3 million. This marks the third time in six months that Austin has set a new club record for a transfer fee, showcasing their commitment to building a competitive team.

FC Cincinnati faces potential changes as they are likely to lose Lucho Acosta. The club is reportedly considering a move for Portland`s Evander should Acosta secure a new destination before the 2025 season begins.
