India Prepares for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

India is gearing up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with the squad announcement scheduled for January 18 or 19. The tournament will kick off with India's opener against Bangladesh on February 20, and all league matches will take place in Dubai, while other games will be hosted in Pakistan. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team as captain, despite facing challenges in recent performances, including a disappointing Test season where he averaged just 10.93.

In addition to the Champions Trophy preparations, India has also revealed its squad for a five-match T20I series against England starting January 22. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the T20 side, with Axar Patel serving as vice-captain. The squad features wicket-keepers Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, with Samson showcasing impressive form in T20 internationals.

Following the T20I series, India will engage in a three-match ODI series against England from February 6 to 12, with the squad for this series to be announced later. Currently, India holds the top position in the ICC ODI team rankings, boasting 118 rating points, ahead of Australia and Pakistan. The Champions Trophy will see India placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand, while Group B includes Afghanistan, England, Australia, and South Africa.
