Jasprit Bumrah's fitness is under scrutiny as India prepares for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to delay the announcement of the squad, initially set for January 12, partly due to Bumrah's recovery from injury and recent commitments in Australia for the Test series. His fitness status is crucial, as he is anticipated to play a pivotal role in the team, potentially acting as Rohit Sharma's deputy on the field.

Bumrah has showcased his versatility in recent matches, not only excelling as a fast bowler but also demonstrating his batting prowess. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he impressed by hitting sixes against prominent bowlers, including three against Pat Cummins, two against Stuart Broad, and two against Kagiso Rabada. This ability to contribute with the bat adds depth to his role in the team.

As India gears up for a white-ball series against England from January 22 to February 12, Bumrah's performance and fitness will be closely monitored.
